Re: Error launching PowerGen executable for PB 10.5

Hi,

We are in the process of migrating from PB 9.0.1 build 6533 to PB 10.5.1 build 6565, so I am testing our automated build under PB 10.5. I am able to launch the exe for PowerGen Pro for PB 10.5 from the Start menu, but when it runs from our automated build via ant scripts, I get a message box saying "Could not find PBORC105.DLL...Error 0". It seems like it has to be some sort of path issue, but I cannot determine why it doesn't work, but it does work for PB 9, because everywhere I find pborc90.dll, I find pborc105.dll. As a workaround, I put a copy of the 10.5 DLL's in the PowerGen exe folder (D:\Program Files\E. Crane Computing\PowerGen Professional), which allows it to work without errors.

Any ideas?

Tom

Re: Error launching PowerGen executable for PB 10.5

Hi Tom,

Sorry for the delayed response;  I was out last week.

From the error you're getting,  I suspect duplicate PB DLL's for 10.5.  Is that possible?

Regards,

Phil

Re: Error launching PowerGen executable for PB 10.5

I am having the same problem on both machines I have tested it on.  In both cases, I have both PowerBuilder 8.0 and PowerBuilder 10.5 loaded on the system in separate folders.  PowerBuilder 8.0 is installed in C:\Program Files\Sybase and PowerBuilder 10.5 is installed in C:\Program Files\Sybase105 .

Re: Error launching PowerGen executable for PB 10.5

I suspect duplicate PB DLLs here too.  And what I mean by duplicates are 2 copies of the exact same DLL, PBVM105.DLL, for example.

As a workaround you can install PowerGen in the PowerBuilder/Shared directory where all the PB development DLLs are saved.  This will result in PowerGen finding all of the DLLs it needs in its own directory and it won't go searching and find the duplicates.

Let me know if I can help further.  There is absolutely no problem in having multiple version of PowerGen and PB installed on the same machine.

Phil

Re: Error launching PowerGen executable for PB 10.5

I am not sure what you mean by installing PowerGen in the PowerBuilder/Shared directory.
Will it work to copy the Pwrgn8.exe into C:\Program Files\Sybase\Shared\PowerBuilder (location I have PowerBuilder 8.0 installled) and Pwrgn105.exe into C:\Program Files\Sybase105\Shared\PowerBuilder (location I ahve PowerBuilder 10.5 installed)?  I do not believe the PowerGen InstallShield will let me install separate full copies of PowerGen in each of these directories.  I just wish to make sure that the PowerBuilder 8.0 build only uses 8.0 DLLs and the PowerBuilder 10.5 build only uses 10.5 DLLs.
Thanks.

Re: Error launching PowerGen executable for PB 10.5

You can copy the executables into their respective PowerBuilder Shared directories.  You'll need to adjust the short cuts and may also want to copy the Help file.

You can install the two versions in different places by running the installation proces twice.   In the first run just install the PB8 version choosing the PB8 directory, then run it again and install the PB10.5 version.

Phil
