In the 'Application Build Settings' window in PowerGen, there are selections for Optimization such as for speed, for size and default (none).
What exactly do these do? What does this change?
These are compiler settings used when PowerGen is generating "machine code" (as opposed to P-code). They mimic settings in PowerBuilder.
I'm not sure anyone has ever documented the exact effect these have. But in any case machine code generation has been abandoned by the PowerBuilder community. For machine code generation the build times are extremely long, the build and run-time environments are not as robust as P-code, the deliverables are larger AND it is rare to measure any performance improvement.
