Re: General Protection Fault when importing

I'm using PowerGen Professional Version 5.5.0.44 for PB9.

Everytime when I try bootstrap importing in Command line mode, I get errorcode: 116 in my session and project error files, although there are no other errors in the log file and the final import and build are successful.

Sometimes PowerGen abnormally terminated. But a second try without changing anything would succeed. Not sure whether it is an system issue (I'm using windows terminal server). I couldn't get more helpful error information from the log files so far.

One of the error messages I got is as below:
(0001): Error       C0113: Error reading object source entry: C:\PB9\BUILDS\4.5.0\XSellerator\fngtoi.pbl.
It repeated for all objects after you got one error.

Phil, do you know what's wrong?

Thanks.

Re: General Protection Fault when importing

Well, I found the answer to my first question from your PowerGen Tip web page.
But I still have no idea about the error: (0001): Error C0113: Error reading object source entry: .......

Re: General Protection Fault when importing

Hi Homer,

The C0113 error indicates an object with incomplete or corrupted source.  When exactly in the process do you get the message (send the output log, if you can)?  Can you export the object that produces the error?  If so does it appear complete?

The error might also indicate a corrupted PBL.  When you Bootstrap Import, do you start with existing PBLs or are they created?

Phil

Re: General Protection Fault when importing

Hi Phil,

I have two error files which have this error code. they both are bigger than 1M. I can send them to you if you really want. Which email address should I send to? I wanted to attach a small screen shot picture in this threat but the uploading always fails.

I got this error code from both bootstrap importing and full regenerating. When I Bootstrap Imported, I started with nothing and let Powergen create all the PBLs.

I didn't try exporting the object that produced the error because, as I said, once the error appeared for one object, the rest objects all got this error. And before that, everything was OK. e.g. in the case where a full regenerating failed started from one object, say w_1, there were no errors when bootstrap importing w_1.

Forthurmore, I didn't change anything then tried the second time, it would success.

My guess is there's something unstable but I haven't been able to find out what it is. It may not be the fault of PowerGen. I am just thinking you may have some experience around this issue. Thanks for your reply.

BTW. Is checking the existence of the error files the best way to know whether a Powergen command succeeds?

Re: General Protection Fault when importing

Hi Homer,

Sorry for the delayed response!

You can e-mail anything to me at philw@ecrane.com.  If you can sned the failing objects to me that would help a lot.  Also send the PowerGen output log (powergen.log, by default), please.

And yes, checking the error file is the best way to test for success or failure.

Regards,

Phil
