Re: PowerGen bug with long objectnames

Hello,

we've migrated our main ejbclient (pb) application from PB9 to to PB 10.5.1

I've noticed that PowerGen (version 6.5.0.12 for PB V10.5) still GPF (error code = 116) on us, while the process works fine using the version for PB9

We're using PowerGen for 2 steps:
1. import generated ejbproxies (generated with ejb2pb105.exe) into pbls
2. build the executable

Remarks:
- ejb2pb90 would shorten proxy object names to max. 50 characters (eg: rotating last 2 characters in order to get unique names)
- ejb2pb105 accepts longer object names (than 50 characters); using this same long objectname throughout.

i've added some extra logging and it appears that PowerGen crashes on this !

-> the last successfully generated object is the one before the first object with objectname longer than 50 chars.
-> I've included sample generated proxy objects: java_FleetVehicleHistoryOverviewWithResultSetSessPar.srx

if you want, i can send you the complete PB target PBLs and all generated proxy objects, in case you need this for reproduction.
I must warn you that it's quite a big application, so if you do need these, please provide a ftp / upload location (won't work via email)

Could you please acknowledge this and (asap) provide a fix for this?

Thanks for a quick response,

Ben

Re: PowerGen bug with long objectnames

Hi Ben,

As we have discussed via e-mail, this is a problem with names longer than 40 characters (allowed after PB10).   We have uploaded a fix for you.  If others are experiencing this problem, let me know and I can give download instructions.

Regards,

Phil

Re: PowerGen bug with long objectnames

Hi Phil,

I've just ran the test with your fix and it works fine !!

powergen now processes "java_FleetVehicleHistoryOverviewWithResultSetSessParProxy" without crashing on it.

Thanks for the quick & excellent service!

Ben

PS: The fix is included in powergen version 6.5.5.03

Re: PowerGen bug with long objectnames

Ok. Second attempt at posting this message as a quick post didn't work.

We are currently having the same issue with long object names, we are using PowerBuilder 10.5 Build 5048 and PowerGen v6.5.0.12.

I have tried to download PowerGen Professional v6.5 again in a hope that this would be v6.5.5.03 as mentioned below and fix our problem however when installed we find out that it is only v6.5.0.12 I'm not sure if this is because our password only allows us access to the older version of PowerGen if so how do we get a new one and does this require us to update our licence? or is there a patch download available which fixes this issue?

Your quick response in this issue is much appreciated as we ned to get a build created a.s.a.p for testing.

Regards,
Greg

Greg,

I believe you're running the new version now, right?
