Re: Obsolete items

The only reason an object would be identified as obsolete is if it were found in a PBL and did not have a corresponding import file.  Can you double check that the import files exist in the VSS shadow directory?

Phil

Re: Obsolete items

I have double checked.  These objects are there and are needed for the build in some cases it it even the application object. If I go into
powerbuilder the objects show up  I do a GLV and then I can do a build fine.

Re: Obsolete items

I need more information on this.

How are you specifying the object files that you're comparing with?  PBG's or Object List Files?  Can you send them?

Can you send the output log showing the objects identified as obsolete?

Regards,

Phil

Re: Obsolete items

Mike,

For some reason your message wasn't posted to the forum until yesterday; sorry for the delayed response.

Have you also checked that the objects reported as obsolete, exist in the PBG files?  Can you send the PBG file for ir_2.pbl?

Also do you know why PowerGen reports that it can't open certain export files?

Regards,

Phil

Re: Obsolete items

Here is the Ir_2.pbg file. I do not Know why I get objects I can't open it could be because they are shared objects
and I haven't shared them yet.

Re: Obsolete items

Mike,

Comparing the output log you sent earlier with the pbg, it's clear that the problem is that the pbg file is incomplete.  It references only a fraction of the objects in the PBL which is why the comparison concludes that the objects are obsolete.

From the reports I get, pbg files often become incorrect.  That's one reason why I favor using Object List Files (OLF's); because they can refer to object files with a wild card.  This eliminates the need to keep an accurate enumerated list of objects.

Phil
