We have been experiencing problems whereby EXEs compiled either under PB8.03 or Powergen crashed under Windows 2000 or XP, ran fine under NT4. This seems to be due to problems with memory management, which we heard had been addressed under PB8.04. We compiled under PB8.04 and found that this cured our problem.
My question is, do we need a corresponding upgrade of Powergen or would using the PB8.04 runtime DLLs with the Powergenned EXE do the trick?
The version of PowerGen that you have will do the job.
PowerGen uses whatever PB DLLs it can load, using the standard Windows LoadLibrary strategy, i.e. local directory, then Windows directories, then path. So if you've performed a standard upgrade of PB, PowerGen will use the correct DLLs.
