The Plaistow Community YMCA offered in 2017 for the first time a Summer Learning Loss Program at Pollard School. This program was free to 12 participants who were below grade level in reading. They enjoyed literacy instruction in the mornings, and afternoons and Camp Tricklin’ Falls.

The children in the program improved an average of three months in their reading level. Timberlane Regional School District was a true partner as they provided space and transportation. One young girl had this to say about the program: ” I was able to understand what I was reading better than in school. Mr. Pelletier was very helpful and encouraging. I am now excited to start school and enjoy reading much more.”
